Coconuts are a highly sought-after tropical fruit that can be found in many different parts of the world. As a Vietnam-based fruit supplier, LCD Fruit understands the importance of exporting high-quality coconuts to our customers around the world. In this blog post, we will discuss how to export coconuts, including storing methods, packaging, sizing, grading, types, box size, paperwork, payment terms, and container details.

Coconut Storing Methods

To ensure the best quality of coconuts, it is important to store them properly. Coconuts should be stored in a cool and dry place, with a temperature of around 10-15 degrees Celsius. They should also be kept away from direct sunlight and humidity, which can cause mold and spoilage. Proper ventilation is also important to allow air to circulate around the coconuts and prevent overheating.

Coconut Packaging

Coconuts are typically packaged in plastic or mesh bags to protect them during transportation. The bags should be strong and durable, with no holes or tears that could damage the coconuts. The bags should also be able to hold the weight of the coconuts without breaking. Each bag should be labeled with the product name, weight, and origin.

Coconut Sizing

Coconuts come in a variety of sizes, which can be categorized as small, medium, and large. Small coconuts weigh between 500-800 grams, medium coconuts weigh between 800-1200 grams, and large coconuts weigh over 1200 grams. The sizing can vary depending on the type of coconut and the region it is grown in.

Coconut Grading

Coconuts are graded based on their appearance, size, and quality. Grade A coconuts have a clean and smooth shell, with no cracks or blemishes. They are also large and have a high meat-to-water ratio. Grade B coconuts have some blemishes or cracks on the shell, and may be smaller in size. Grade C coconuts have visible cracks or blemishes on the shell and may have lower quality meat.

Coconut Types

There are several types of coconuts, each with their own unique characteristics. The most common types are the green coconut and the brown coconut. Green coconuts are young coconuts that have a softer shell and more water than meat. Brown coconuts are mature coconuts that have a hard shell and more meat than water. Other types include the golden coconut, which is sweeter than other types, and the dwarf coconut, which is smaller in size and has a thinner shell.

Coconut Box Size

Coconuts are typically packed in 40ft containers, which can hold up to 1600 bags of coconuts. Each bag contains approximately 25 coconuts, depending on the size and weight of the coconuts.

Coconut Paperwork

To export coconuts, several documents are required, including a commercial invoice, packing list, certificate of origin, and phytosanitary certificate. These documents provide information about the product, its origin, and its compliance with regulations.

Coconut Payment Terms

LCD Fruit accepts both T/T and LC at sight payment terms. T/T payment requires a deposit of 30% upfront, with the remaining balance paid before shipment. LC at sight payment terms require the buyer to open a letter of credit with their bank, which guarantees payment to the supplier upon delivery of the product.

Coconut Container Details

When exporting coconuts, it is important to consider container details such as the temperature and ventilation. Coconuts should be transported in a temperature-controlled container, with a temperature of around 10-15 degrees Celsius. The container should also have proper ventilation to prevent overheating and moisture buildup.
